We have a lot of new Daisy Dogs - photos and bios to come soon!  If you are looking to add a new BFF (Best Fur Friend!) to your home, please email us so we can let you know who's looking for their forever home!  Thank you for having patience - we are an all volunteer organization, juggling rescue with our work and family responsibilities!

Billy - 8 years young

bill_for_petfinderHi, it's me Billy!  As you can see, I'm a very handsome "houndador" - I'm mostly black Lab, but have some hound in me, too!  My family moved away and instead of taking me with them, they dumped me off at a really scary place - I was put in a cage and there were dogs and cats crying all day and night.  I didn't know why I was there, I'm such a good boy - very loving, loyal and sweet!  I get along great with other dogs, too.  One day they came and told me that I was going to be a Daisy Dog - I didn't know what that meant until a really nice lady came and put me in her car and took me home.  Turns out she's my foster mom, and I LOVE her!  So now I live with my foster mom and her two Labs, everyone is really nice to me but I sure would like to have my very own forever family again!  Don't let my grey muzzle fool you - I'm only about 8 years old at the most and I've got LOTS of energy!  I'd be a great jogging partner!  I'm VERY curious about felines, so for now, it's best that I go to a dog only home.  If you're looking for a BFF (best fur friend) who will go out and about with you or be happy to curl up by your side, I'm the one for you!

Chocolate Penelope - 7ish years young

chocolate_precious

Hi, I'm Penelopee!  I was found as a stray up in Greenville and nobody came to claim me.  Day after day I sat at the scary place waiting for my family, I tried not to be scared but there were so many dogs and cats barking, meowing and crying.  I heard whispers that I was on something called the 'put to sleep' list because of my age.  I didn't like the sounds of that and I'm certainly not old!  I have lots of spunk and energy - and lots of life left to live and love to give!  One day a really nice man came and picked me up, we rode in his car for a while and then we stopped and he put me in another car with a very sweet lady.  We drove some more and then she took me inside to a vet's office and I met Auntie M.  She told me that I'm a Daisy Dog now and I'm safe!  I love other dogs and I'm fine with the feline types, too.  I am an ace retriever and I'll run and fetch the ball and bring it right back to you for as long as you want to play!  I'm a champion snuggler and am very good in the house!  If you're looking for a petite (55 lbs) little bit of chocolate love, I'm the girl for you!

Gizmo - 10 years young

good_photo_of_gizmo Hi, I'm Gizmo!  Four years ago my beloved person died and I ended up at the shelter, I was adopted and then my new person couldn't take care of me anymore and back to the scary place I went!  Luckily, a very nice lady saw me and sent my photo to Daisy's Place - well how could they resist me?  They were full, but said I was so adorable, they would find a place for me!  Now I'm with my new foster mom and life is good again!  I love my foster siblings, I get along with everyone and I'm very easy going.  The vet is taking really good care of me and I've got some new supplements to help my joints - I even got to go to the park and go swimming - I LOVE the water!  I have a new pep in my step and my foster mom doesn't believe that I'm really 10!  If you are looking for a sweet, easy going older Labby, I'm the guy for you!

Honey (12 years young) and Buddy (10 years young)

honey_and_buddy_at_amw Hi, we're Honey and Buddy and we've been together all of our lives.  We were dumped at a high kill shelter because our family didn't want us anymore. Luckily, we were saved by our guardian angel, Kim, and she called Daisy's Place so we could have a chance for a happy new beginning as Daisy Dogs!  We're both super sweet and easy going and we are loving life with our foster family and their fur kids!

Jasmine - 6 years young

jasmine_1

jasmine_head_shot Hi there, it's me, Jasmine! As you can see by my photos, I’m a big beautiful ‘purebred’ Dane-ador! I was living outside by myself with my 4 little pups in TN when Animal Control picked us up and took us to the shelter. Lucky for me, one of the volunteers has a soft spot for us big gorgeous Dane mixes and worked tirelessly to make sure I had rescue. (My pups went to another rescue and are safe!) She even took me home for a week and that’s when she discovered that I’m great with other dogs, cats, kids and even pot-bellied pigs, yes, I can claim that I’m 100% ‘pig tested’!! I’ve been living with my temporary foster and guardian angel, Lisa, and I’m so happy to be in a home and to be a Daisy Dog! I get along great with her 18 lb. Chihuahua mix, her Great Dane and even her male Lab mix who isn’t so friendly to everyone else! Lisa says he’s never opened his heart to another dog like he has to me – he must know that I’m just pure sweetness!

I absolutely LOVE to snuggle and be petted. I do have ‘happy tail’ from wagging my tails so strongly against the walls and furniture. I even do a little happy dance when Lisa comes home and I chatter, too! I’m good in the house, but I prefer to be in the company of other canines when my person isn’t home. I have to be honest, I have discovered the joy of cuddling on the furniture – wow, life is great! Hopefully my forever person will allow me to get on the furniture, because I’m getting spoiled here with Lisa and her fur kids! I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body, the other dogs can even put their nose in my bowl while I’m eating and I don’t mind. My only ‘bad habit’ is trying to steal food off the counter while Lisa is fixing my dinner – but the minute she catches me, I give it right back!

So, if you’re looking for a loving, gentle giant of a girl, I’m the one for you! I’m currently about 100 lbs. and could stand to gain a few more pounds. I promise, if you take me into your heart and home, I will love you for life!

Lordie Mercy - 12 years young

lordie_mercyLordie Mercy!  Yup, that's really my name!  I'm a beautiful akc black Lab and even though I'm an old gal, I've still got lots of spirit and pep in my step!  I was dumped at a high kill shelter because my owner didn't want me anymore.  I don't know why - I'm really sweet and loving - but one day I ended up at the shelter and I heard them saying that I was going to have to be 'put to sleep' if a rescue didn't take me.  Lordie, I was so scared!  Thankfully Daisy's Place came to my rescue!  I was in a temporary foster home and I did really good - I went walking with my foster mom 2 miles a day, now mind you, it was a rather slow walk, but I loved it!  Unfortunately my foster mom could only keep me for a short time because she had a new puppy coming and a full house.  She cried when I left, because she said I'm one of the sweetest girls she's ever known.  I'm really affectionate - I never had a lot of love before I became a Daisy Dog and now I can't get enough!  I've been to the vet and I do have some health issues, but nothing that seems to slow me down.  I just went to my new foster home and I'm so excited - I'll be sure and update you later, but I have a feeling I'm a very lucky girl!  If you have room in your heart and home for a spunky old gal, I would love to find my forever home!

Lordie Mercy Update - January 2012

lordie_and_gigi

Lordie is still in her loving foster home and will remain there with her family for the rest of her life.  She's recently been diagnosed with the beginning stages of kidney failure, we're treating her with medication and a special diet and most of all her foster family is showering her with love and affection!  Lordie has finally found the love she deserves and has been seeking all her life,  She's a very special Daisy Dog and a true testament to the amazing Labby spirit!

Mercury - 10 years young

mercury_for_fbHi, it's me Mercury!  As you can see I'm a beautiful black Lab, I'm about 9-10 years young and I'm one of the sweetest boys you'll ever meet!  My family moved away and dropped me at the kill shelter - I don't know why, I'm so well behaved and all I want to do is love my peeps.  The gals at the shelter fell in love with me so they called Daisy's Place to rescue me.  Now I'm living in a great foster home and getting lots of TLC, but I'd really like to find a family of my very own.  I get along great with other dogs and I love to go for walks - my former owner trained me as I walk right next to you on the left side, I sit on command, too.  I'm super curious about cats, so not sure if I should live with them or not - it will be a trial and error when it comes to the feline types!  I love to go places and I'm so well mannered that when I was at Starbucks the other day, everyone thought I must be a trained therapy dog - but nope, I'm just a good boy!  If you're looking for a very sweet black Lab who will love you for life, that's me - I might have some age on me, but I've got lots of love left to give and life left to live!

Odin - 9 years young

odin_at_foster_home_january_2012

I'm Odin and as you can see, I'm a big beautiful guy!  Me and my housemate Rheba (also a Daisy Dog) had a very happy life with our dad, but things started to get bad with the economy and then dad had to move and he couldn't take us with him.  He was heartbroken and so he got in touch with Auntie M at Daisy's Place and asked if we could be Daisy Dogs.  Well, the timing was really bad, it was during New Year's and there were no open foster homes and all of the boarding places were full.  Auntie M said she could probably take Rheba 'cuz she's a Lab - but that he would have to take us to the shelter until she could find a place for Rheba, and maybe me.  Dad took us to the scary place and he cried as he said good-bye - me and Rheba were really scared but we didn't want dad to feel even worse, so we wagged our tails to let him know we'd be ok.  Auntie M called the shelter and told them to hold us she was working on another rescue to take me since I'm not a Retriever and Daisy's Place is really full these days.  Two days later she came to get us - one look at me and she knew she couldn't leave me behind or send me to another rescue!  So now I'm living with a really nice family and they're taking really good care of me - I'm such a loving guy and I'm really playful, but easy going in the house!  And you won't believe this - you know Violet, the big beautiful Neufador Daisy Dog?  Well her foster mom met me and she couldn't believe it - she has a girl who looks JUST LIKE ME and she's the same age.  Auntie M emailed my dad and it turns out that we were adopted from the same shelter 9 years ago - we're siblings!  Can you imagine?  It must be fate that I'm a Daisy Dog!  If you're looking for a big soft teddy bear, I'm your guy!  And if by chance you'd like to adopt two Daisy Dogs - Rheba and I would love to live together again!

Reilly - 5 years young - a Rosebud (honorary Daisy Dog under the age of six) - Adoption Pending

reilly_in_gardenHi, it's me Reilly!  I'm an adorable little Golden mix - I'm only about 40 pounds but I've got a BIG heart!  I was found as a stray and nobody came to claim me - I was heartworm positive and have a bad hip so the shelter was going to put me to sleep.  Aunti M from Daisy's Place met me and said NO WAY and she got me out of there and now I'm a Rosebud (honorary Daisy Dog under 6 years old).  I have been heartworm treated and I'm doing great.  I'm going to need hip surgery at some point, but I get around just fine and run and play with other dogs - I'm actually a bit of a billy goat and can even climb up on counters, which apparently is not a good thing and is frowned upon!  I am a total lover and all I want is attention and affection - I'm a champion snuggler and will keep you warm on cold winter nights!  I love my foster mom, but I'd really like to find a family of my very own - if you can take me into your heart and home forever, Daisy's Place is working on raising the money for my hip surgery!

Rheba - 9 years young

rheba_at_meet_and_greet_january_2012

Hi there, I'm Rheba or Rheebs as they sometimes call me!  I'm an adorable spry little grey muzzle!  Me and my housemate Odin (another Daisy Dog) lived with our dad and we were a happy family.  Then one day when the economy got bad dad had to move and he couldn't take us with him.  He tried everything he could think of, but he had to find us a new home.  He got in touch with Auntie M at Daisy's Place, but it was New Year's weekend and there were no open foster homes and boarding was full.  Auntie M said she'd do her best to find a place for me - and maybe Odin, although he's not a Retriever - but that dad had to take us to the shelter first.  We tried not to let dad see how scared we were, he was crying when he said good-bye to us and we didn't want him to feel worse, so we wagged our tails and huddled together.  And then two days later Auntie M arrived and she took me and Odin outside and we jumped up into the back of the car and we knew we were SAFE!  I had some flea allergies, but I went to a really nice vet and he took care of me.  I love to go for walks and to play with other dogs, I especially like mothering puppies!  And did I tell you?  I LOVE riding in the car, so much so that sometimes it's hard to get me to get out when we reach our destination!  Oh, and I'm fine sharing my space with the feline types, too.  If you're looking for a really sweet little lady who doesn't act her age, I'm the girl for you!  And if you might want to adopt two Daisy Dogs - me and Odin would love to live together again!

Violet - 10ish years young

violet_the_neufadorHi!  I’m Violet and I'm a beautiful, sweet, fluffy Neufador (somewhere between 8-10 years young!)!  My mom died and I ended up at a really scary place.  I was so sad, I didn't understand why I had to leave my home and I really missed my mom.  Then one day a really nice lady came and picked me up and she said I was going to be a Daisy Dog!  I went to her house and met her two doggie girls and also several kitty cats and her husband.  Everyone was so nice to me and I started feeling better right away!  My foster family is the best, they give me good food and take me for walks - I've got a new pep in my step and life is great!  I'm a very loving girl and will snuggle up next to you for as long as you want.  Believe it or not, with all this fur, I don't really shed.  If you'd like a sweet, easy going girl to be your very best BFF (best fur friend!), that's me!
